Home and Community-Based Programs

Options Counseling and Family Services partners with the Oregon Department of Human Services to support individuals and families in the communities we serve. A few of these programs are listed below.

Family Builders

This is a targeted program with a single goal: do whatever it takes to keep a family together with a solid foundation of safety and respect. Whether there is an immediate need for food and shelter or if the family would benefit from direct interventions to improve parenting skills, our Family Builders are available to stabilize the situation.

Family Support & Connections

The Family Support Coordinator provides variable hours of ‘hands-on’ in-home demonstration, teaching, and support to achieve behavioral change in families where child safety issues are present. Families served include those in which there are safety risks in the home and/or children are at risk of out of home placement. The provider will assess the family’s needs, co-create a family plan of action, and collaborate with other ODHS providers and community agencies.  This service is only provided in the following counties: Clatsop, Columbia, Douglas, Marion, Polk, Tillamook, and Yamhill. Intensive In-Home Family Services (IIFS)

Options Intensive In-Home Family Services addresses early onset risk factors for juvenile delinquency. Other programs treat children after they have become involved in crime, focusing on youth accountability, restoration, and recidivism reduction, rather than prevention; the preventative focus of the IIFS program is unique. Coordination of services for families involved in the IIFS program is ongoing, on a case-by-case basis. IIFS referrals primarily come from school personnel, and through multi-disciplinary teams that may include the Oregon Department of Human Services, law enforcement, the juvenile justice system, and community partners. The population served through the IIFS program includes non-offending youth in 4th grade through 6th grade or youth between 9 to 12 years of age. This service is only provided in Douglas County.
